"For its sixth edition, Vogue Paris Foundation dinner exceptionally changes the setting. Heading for the Trianon, a mythical theatre where the greatest artists have performed on stage. A tailor-made setting for this must-attend event of the haute couture week. This festive evening, traditionally punctuated by an electric dance floor, continues its mission to enrich the contemporary collections of Palais Galliera, Paris Fashion Musuem, with the support of the most prestigious fashion houses and the leading actors in the fashion world. Vogue Paris, for nearly a century now, has been committed to illuminating and staging fashion with passion in all its modernity, fantasy and audacity. A flame of creativity that also characterizes the exceptional pieces that enrich the museum's collections this year once again thanks to the generosity of all. I would like to take this opportunity to thank, in association with Miren Arzalluz, Director of Palais Galliera, all our patrons and donors for their loyal support."
- Emmanuelle Alt, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris
"The first time, the Vogue Paris Foundation Gala isn't celebrated at Palais Galliera. The Paris Fashion Museum, which has entered in an historical period of work supported by Chanel's patronage, will inaugurate the first permanent fashion galleries in France in 2020. Thanks to Vogue Paris Foundation, this sixth edition in favour of contemporary creation contributes to enrich of the Palais Galliera's collections with more than sixty pieces. As we celebrate the tenth anniversary of Alexander McQueen's death, we wanted to pay special tribute to this major creator whose influence is still tangible. Almost absent from fashion museums in France, her work is now embodied in the acquisition of five of her most famous fashion shows, from "Irere" (spring-summer 2003) to her latest finished collection, "Plato's Atlantis" (spring-summer 2010). Major figures of contemporary fashion, from Comme des Garçons to Martin Margiela and Junya Watanabe, make up this selection alongside two unique pieces created by Gabrielle Chanel at the end of her career. Among the great names in men's fashion, silhouettes by Rick Owens and Walter Van Beirendonck illustrate the creative revival of this discipline. I would like to sincerely thank Vogue Paris and Emmanuelle Alt for their trust, as well as all the fashion houses that faithfully support Palais Galliera through their patronage or generous donations. I am thinking of Balenciaga, Balmain, Burberry, Celine, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Gucci, Isabel Marant, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Kenzo, Loewe, Marine Serre, Nina Ricci, Prada, Rick Owens, Saint Laurent, Y/Project and finally Chanel, whose silhouette presented this evening is the occasion for a sincere tribute to Karl Lagerfeld's career and unique influence on fashion history."
